The Winding House Coffee Shop offers a selection of hot and cold drinks and sweet snacks. From our ‘lovely tea’ (a customer’s own words…) and freshly made coffee, to milkshakes and a wide variety of well-known soft drinks.
Why not also enjoy our tempting Welsh cakes and Bara Brith? Or maybe a toasted teacake and the award-winning chocolate fruit & nut slice from the Handmade Cake Co?
Not to feel left out, children might be drawn to the wide choice of cookies and muffins on offer; to name but two. The choice of cakes available at the Coffee Shop changes regularly, so please remember to come back and sample them all!
For special occasions, spoil yourself to our afternoon teas or brunch boxes to eat in or takeaway. Afternoon teas are £15.50 per person and brunch boxes are £18, suitable for two people. These delicious treats must be pre-booked 24 hours in advance, to give us time to make them extra special for you.
We are also able to offer space for our visitors to enjoy their own packed lunches. For large groups, we do recommend that you contact us in advance to check availability.
Our coffee shop is a great community resource for regular coffee mornings and chat groups. Get in touch for details of available space, social distancing requirements and large group refreshment discounts.
There’s something for everyone in our gift shop. From our specialist collection of local historical publications to locally sourced souvenirs, you are certain to find the perfect memento of your visit. Appealing to all ages, our stock includes traditional Welsh memorabilia and keepsakes, souvenirs of the former Elliots Colliery, cards and products produced by local artists, toys and gifts for little ones and locally produced preserves and alcohol for the grown-ups.
Spend some time perusing our collection of books. Our staff are a mine of information on local history and will be able to find you the perfect publication for you, whether your interest is in photographic, academic or general interest books on the history of Caerphilly and the surrounding areas.
Competitively priced and displayed in an open plan, COVID-safe space, we welcome browsing through the gift shop during your visit and our staff are on hand to help you make your selections.
